Summer 2022

48 REAL-LEADERS.COM / SUMMER 2022 FUTURE 2030 AI-OPTIMIZED MANUFACTURING Paper and pencil tracking, luck, significant global travel, and opaque supply chains are part of today’s status quo, resulting in large amounts of wasted energy, materials, and time. Accelerated in part by the long-term shutdown of international and regional travel by COVID-19, companies that design and build products rapidly adopted cloudbased technologies to aggregate, intelligently transform, and contextually present product and process data from manufacturing lines throughout their supply chains. This ubiquitous stream of data and the intelligent algorithms crunching has enabled manufacturing lines to continuously optimize higher levels of output and product quality – reducing overall waste in manufacturing by up to 50%. As a result, we are enjoying higher quality products produced faster, at a lower cost to our pocketbooks and the environment. Anna-Katrina Shedletsky, CEO and founder, Instrumental LEARN TO BECOME FUTURE-READY— NOW The past decade has been one of amazing business growth, with the most prominent reason being our futurereadiness initiative launched in 2021. Rather than being farsighted, I like to say we are “intensely alert to the pockets of the future in the present” and “unrivaled in our ability to act upon emerging opportunities.” We were in action before our competitors were even aware of a trend. Future-readiness is a unique and empowering capability. What we didn’t do is essential to our story. We didn’t try to defensively future-proof our business. Instead, we leaned into the uncertainty and the complexity. We didn’t chase short-term trends in AI, automation, and post-pandemic pivots. We abandoned old paradigms of strategic planning and vision statements. A decade ago, our associates saw “world resilience” as a buzzword that meant adaptability or perseverance. In 2030, we understand resilience correctly in all its forms: personal resilience, organizational resilience, and ecosystem resilience. Greg Githens, CEO, Catalyst & Cadre
